Results for Psychiatric Evaluation

Today I went to see the psychiatrist to get the results of my psych eval.  Dr said I passed except when it came to stress. So he gave me some suggestions on how to reduce the stress. Read, bubble bath, TV, movies, walk, go to park, have a picnic. Take at least 20 min a day for me time. Sometimes that is easier said then done. But I will try!
He is now going to turn his report in to surgeon who will turn into insurance. So I may get an answer in 2 weeks!!

BTW---3 more lbs gone.  :)

week of 7-23-12

I did a weigh in on Monday for the Pounds for Panties challenge.  2 lbs more lost.  I am going the right direction.  That is a positive think!  Someone told me to just keep dieting and exercising and I wont need the surgery.  But at this rate, it will take me 70 weeks to get down where I want.  That is a long time!
I am still just waiting on the psych eval to be sent to the surgeon.  I am supposed to go next Tues and go over the results with the Dr.  I hope they send it to the surgeon before I go to my appt.
Until then I jsut continue to wait.  Maybe by the end of Aug I will have an answer.

Psych Eval

Today was the psych evaluation.  It took over an hour.  I had to answer 344 questions on one test.  There were also 5 other tests.  I would estimate I answered over 500 questions.  Glad that part is done.  Now, tomorrow, I go to my pcp to weigh in and have vitals taken.  I think then all the paperwork will be compiled and sent to the insurance to get approval.  So I am waiting till them.  I will try to post tomorrow what happens at the Dr visit
Til then....

Update

I was supposed to go to have my last visit to have a personality profile done yesterday but got a letter in the mail Saturday saying my insurance would not pay.  So, I cancelled. Then found out that they were going to do the test anyway.  I waited until 11 to call and my appt was 12. It was impossible to go. I rescheduled for today.  Tomorrow I go to my pcp for the last weigh in!  This is getting close.  So close can taste it!

The First Step

Now that I recovered from the lung biopsy,  I could concentrate on gB again!   Again I talked with my pcp and she said go for it!  I first had to see what the requirements are from the ins company  and if they would pay at all.  They have several regulations before u can have the surgery.  First they had to make sure my BMI was above 40 with no comorbidities.  These include high blood pressure, diabetes, history of heart attack or stroke.  My BMI is 53 when started.  I also have to be on a DR supervised diet for 6 months.  There are other tests and seminars that are required.
As of today, I have done everything required except for a psychological exam that I take on Monday. On Wednesday have my last weigh in.  Then all the papers get sent into insurance for approval.  So until then.......:)

The Beginning...

My journey started in 2010.  I did all the research.  Found out what hospitals
offered the type of surgery wanted.  I talked with my primary care physician (pcp) to see if she thought I would be a good canidate for the surgery.    Then had a routine scan and a spot was found on my lung.  I had 6 more months of tests, scans, more tests and then it was suspected to be CANCER!!   This put the Gastric Bypass on hold while I get the lung biopsied.  It was the worst ordeal I have ever gone through with a surgery.  The spot was inside the lung but it was unreachable thru the throat so the Dr preformed laproscopic surgery thru my side, under my arm pit and then lower at my bra line.  It took me over a month to heal. The doctors had a hard time controlling my pain.  It ended up not being cancer though! :)
So now I can concentrate on having the gB.
